WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY ( 2014 - 2018)

YEAR 2014 :


My Weight loss journey, HOW THE HELL I LOST 50 KGS. My story is not one of overnight success. I didn’t take a magic pill.




My adventure has been increasingly similar to a roller coaster ride,many errors, and a collection of small milestones along the way, eventually leading to more than I ever expected to gain.


I was always unhappy with no self-esteem whatsoever, I hated my life I've always told, I'm ugly, I'm fat, I'm unwanted, the society hates me, the people hate me,




I don't belong here,

I don't belong here,

I don't belong here...







Those words that I kept repeated, always been trapped beneath stretchy jeans and sweats shirt and desperate to lose weight to just feel normal, like the people who saw me as a freak.





I had no idea that it would turn into a miserable mess until I seek the journey of my WEIGHTLOSS


yet, I'm not going to lie but was hard, and at first I did some very stupid mistakes.


Over the cause of years of trying to lose weight, I tried a lot of different weight loss diets, programs, and even some gimmicks.



The worst Diet of it all is the VAMPIRE DIET, which I've invented on my own.



NOOO, IM NOT TURNING INTO A VAMPIRE, OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH DEVIL or whatever there is.


I was living alone in my studio apartment during my weight loss journey,

and although I write fictions including one of them being supernatural genre.



Anyways what I do is,





I drink a glass of Fresh Strawberry Juice every day at 6pm,


being my only meal , fasting from morning to evening and liquid diet at night.





At the same time walking to gym at 6 am (3 km walk),

After gym walking to college at 9 am ( 2 km walk),

walking back from my college to my studio normally at 5pm (5 km walk) .





lets make it more simple WITH MY THEN TIMETABLE how AWFUL I was with my diet :


  • 6:00 am: Wake up

  • 6:40 am: WALK 30 minutes to the GYM

  • 8:00 am: walk from the gym to my college 20 minutes

  • 5:00 pm: from college walk back to my condo 50 minutes

  • 6:00 pm: strawberry juice ( my fake blood)


There you have it, my vampire diet ;) :(




yes it took allot of patience , from hunger to dedication

And I wouldn't lie , I lost 12kgs in three months.

From January 2014 - March 2014

112kg - 100kg

12 KG WEIGHT LOSS




YET, I did took a break

from 21 February 2014 - 23 February 2014

we went to Malacca for my fathers Birthday




AND

On Wednesdays are my cheat days

I have my evening movie marathon day

pizza night


 




However, I could nOt continue with this Diet.




So I came up with another plan


This time, adding food in them

but more of a daily routine :




From April 2014 - Dec 2014

From 100kg - 80kg

20 KG WEIGHT LOSS



I USED THIS DIET FOR 9 months


Monday : I fast in the morning eat whatever I like after 6 but before 8

Tuesday : coconut water after gym morning, soybeans at night

Wednesday: no food or water whole day ( fasting whole day) no gym too

Thursday: coconut water after gym morning, soybeans at night

Friday: I fast in the morning eat whatever I want after 6 but before 8.

Saturday: No food or water ( fasting whole day)

Sunday: No food or water ( fasting whole day)




yes, I'm probably the ONLY one who can tell you,

this can be done .


I've did it,

done it,


Even went until not eating for five days and I didn't die,








I PRETENDED THAT I'M LIVING IN A WAR ZONE.



  • 4 days gym in a week

  • 2 days cheat day in a week

  • 1 SWIM DAY

  • 3 days fasting no food or water in a week

  • No party or family gathering


From 112 kg to 80kg, within a year I lost 32kgs


Unfortunately ALL IN THE WRONG WAY





  • Year 2014: 112 kg – 80 kg



 



YEAR 2015 :



After losing 32 kg in 2014


I was suffering from loose skin



After countless of arguments with my father. I finally agree to bring him along to India, I wanted to do the surgery alone. My Father would not have it.



On February 12, year 2015, I flew to India with my whole family




I was qualified for the 360 degree belt Lipectomy ( skin removal surgery/ Tummy Tuck)


I Did the surgery on February 13 February 2015

It was almost six hour surgery


Went in at 12pm, came out at 5pm,






I still remember the pain after the surgeons tapped my face to open my eyes

It was not pretty




though they used anestastic but the moment I was conscious

The pain was just horrid






I stayed in the Mumbai Nova Hospital for five days




Dr. Mukund Jaganathan took care of me very well, his team was amazing. His notified as one of the best plastic surgeons in India. His been in practice for 25 years.https://www.medicaltourismco.com/dr-mukund-jagannathan-aesthetic-surgeon-india/






I must say the Indian hospital is a different environment itself

Their hospitality was amazing, from the nurses, to the drs, to the interns, to the Ayahs (special help),



Yes I was taken cared well with their help,





As a Hindu and from Indian ethnic, this was my first time in India too, though I was in the hospital and bed rest in the apartment, I still enjoyed my stay there.

The surgery cost RM 15,700.

It quarter of the price of what would had cost in Malaysia (RM 60,000)



I highly support and appreciate Indicure of their kindness and help on this journey.





We also celebrated our father’s birthday in India that year which was on the 22nd February






My family (Parents and my two little sisters) were there for me

I can never thank them enough of their support for me




:( However they had no clue about the diet

All they know is I’m staying in my studio apartment

Doing my degree and going to gym

I lied to the Dr on my diet

We came back to Malaysia on 23 February 2015




 


After the Belt Lipectomy surgery

I suffered from Charlie Horse Syndrome,





Before the surgery I was green juicing allot, which for me affected this.



JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE

I thought green juicing should be good for your health

It must be Good.

Carries all the good vitamins That you need

Its 100% vegetables

It’s like eating a large salad bowl in liquid form

How I am WRONG

Maybe it works for some not for all

The chemical between two different type of plant mixing together after blending it up

Caused me Charlie Horse syndrome.

Ever since then, I would not recon anyone to green juice ever again, the pain was just to scary to deal with.


A charlie horse is a whats known as severe muscle cramps in the legs or feet.





The cramp often feels as if the muscles of the legs or feet spasm and then lock up in excruciating pain.





Charlie horse cramps can occur anytime, but some people are more prone to get them at night.


It took me 6 months to recover.



I took a combination of vitamins to cure this

Including, Magnesium, Potassium and calcium.

Apart from the vitamins

I also took apple cider vinegar shots



Because of the Charlie Horse syndrome, I was lack of gym, my legs just couldn’t bear with it, if I do any sort of exercise excessively, I’ll get back the horrid crams




I was sad to discover

That I had gained weight

From 80 kg I went back to 84 kg

I WAS STILL CONTINUING WITH THE DIET,

HOWEVER SINCE I'VE LOST THE WEIGHT with my tummy being flat because of the skin removal surgery,

I went a bit more flexible.


"I was Flexible On my diet.

As well because I have no extra skin hanging on my tummy

I also felt a bit more confident of myself

However I did discover a different type of diet . The Raw Vegan Diet"?



In 2015 DIET,

I turned into a raw vegan.

Making sure that my only calories of the day would not exit 400 calories.

Most of the time, I would stick in 270 callories

in the same year


On 2nd December 2015, I did arm lift surgery for my bat wings.





After losing the Kgs I found not only my stomach had excess loose skin

But my arms and thighs too





I was 25 at that time, I’m this person who wants everything fast, everything in order, and everything right away

Though I know I can cure through exercise with the bat wings that I had and it may taken seven years maybe more to get back the elasticity of my skin to get back in shape


But for me I just couldn’t help it






" I felt ashamed of my loose skin

And I want it to be sorted out immediately"

I did the arm lift surgery with Dr.Soma


Who was living 4 minutes away from my studio unit ,

I did it in Malaysia,


Reason because, it’s easier for me to get my regular visits after surgery though its slightly expensive than if I had gotten done in India


The cost was RM 22, OOO.




Dr, Soma was very experienced of what he did.


His Team was amazing support


I did the surgery at Subang Medical center.


I also wanted to do my thigh lift surgery and get it over with,


However I went with Dr.Soma’s advice of instead a thigh lift surgery , to do liposuction on my thighs,


his advice is the loose skin might has its chance to get back to normal.


The loose skin on my thighs was more damaging than my arms to be honest.




The Liposuction costs RM20,000 and I did it twice

One on 31st December 2015

And another on the 4th March 2016.

Both concentrating on my thighs.






Body Contour Surgeries

Total Cost: RM77,700

  1. Tummy my Skin removal: RM 15,700 ( India, Dr. Mukund Jagannathan)

  2. Arm Lift: RM 22,000 (Malaysia, Dr.Soma)

  3. Thigh Liposuction 1st session: RM 20,000 (Malaysia, Dr.Soma)

  4. Thigh Liposuction 2nd session: RM 20,000 Malaysia,Dr.Soma)





Personal note

Personal Note: based on my experience ; I will not recommend Liposuction for over weight people , i was still over weight that time. Major reason is because though it is a painful procedure but for me it’s not worth it, my thighs didn’t really change, whatever fat that’s taken out it comes back, and if it didn’t more loose skin appears, my thighs currently I won’t say that good looking, I really rather did the thigh lift instead of the liposuction twice, so in my opinion I listen to my Dr’s orders, yet I was not satisfied with my current outcome. :( However I sometimes do feel that Dr’s might know the best, Perhaps thigh lift is not the best solutions for me, or perhaps it was i don't know, so just go with the flow.

YEAR 2016:


Though I Looked Healthy, But The CONSEQUENCES WAS A BITCH WITH SUCH LOW CALLORIES



Although with a healthy raw vegan diet and with excessive gym,

And most of my loose skin gone






AND YES It may looks like I'm eating healthy,


but with 400 calories or less a day is considered Malnutritious and not healthy at all.


The thing about my body that I could not ever understand,


even with exercise and I’m telling you I do exercise until my legs bleed, not joking, seriously, my legs does bleeds, i



It does not work.





Only fasting and diet did,

I can’t understand what, don’t understand why

But my body functions differently




 





Being in an Asian country






the society has specific recommendation how one should look like or be





Me being 173 cm considered giant for most Asian people

was not enough

And the additional bonus of being overweight

didn’t look well for me


I was upset of the way I looked

So I did all methods I could,

So that I could just FIT IN THE SOCIETY.




This includes, fasting, to Raw Vegan diet to whatever that I find

Was working for me.





From year 2016 onwards

January 2016 – September 2016


I did the intermediate fasting



I fast in the morning, set my alarm exactly at 4pm,

Where I will take my raw vegan meal and

my cinnamon ginger lemon ale drink





Although Honey is not considered as vegan

Yet I did made an exception.

Sometimes ill replace it with maple syrup

Which doesn’t really shows any difference

Ginger cinnamon lemon Recipe

- Lemon

- Ginger

- Cinnamon sticks

- Cloves ( if wanted)

- Maple syrup / honey

- Ice cubes

Wash lemons and ginger. Slice lemons; peel and thinly slice ginger. Place lemon slices, ginger slices, and cinnamon sticks in a large pitcher; fill container with water. Store in refrigerator.


Please take in mind,


I was also back being active in Gym



I was also a full time Media student and an online writer


I worked part time in a boutique shop where they sale plus size clothing’s


I was also engaging in media work, like building a website for GO GO Green Vegan Restaurant


And allot of other stuffs.


I was always busy including what I call as my BRANCHNEER (Breakfast-lunch-dinner) at 4.30pm, every day, which consist of 270 calories or less.


 



On 16 September 2016, Saturday, I almost died. & was Saved by Dato, DR.TIK Fu Gee



I was determined to loose more weight,


but sadly having major health problems,


included

ENDED UP HOSPITALISATION FOR 21 DAYS AT

PrinceCourt Medical Center ,




HAVING

RUPTURED APPENDICITIS,

IN A very BAD WAY,


ruptured appendix can also lead to septicemia which is a fatal and life threatening blood infection.





my kidney stop working





My ovaries had problem and allot of other stuffs, happened.



I lost all of my hair and I ended up gaining back the weight that I lost.

From 80kg I became 98 Kg on Dec 2016.




I was Back TO SQUARE ONE

I WAS BACK HEADING OBESITY

I WAS VERY WEAK EMOTIONALY AND PHYSICALY FOR GYM

I WAS WEAK IN MANY WAYS

The secreate was out

The Dr told one of the reasons might be my very poor diet

And my parents made sure I ATE, (BREAKFAST, LUNCH, & DINNER)

Made sure I become fit back.

The supplements that I took gain weight

I just kept gaining from September 2016 – December 2016

I gained freaking 18 KGs


I WAS ALSO NO LONGER VEGAN OR RAW VEGAN OR EVEN VIGITARIAN




MY PARENTS MADE ME

TO QUITE RAW VEGAN DIET,

AND MADE ME TO TAKE MEAT


According to them

this will give me energy

and help me to recover fast.


AND THEY WERE RIGHT.




However

The Downfall

Of stopping being a Vegan

And not dieting or Gym

From September 2016 – Nov 2016

I gain 18kg


I felt miserable ,

I felt like killing my self,

I was depressed ,

I was giving a very hard time to my family.





 


NOV 2016

AND TO BE HONEST


I WAS

Fed Up

Upset

And the Skin Removal Surgery Was Starting To Go On A WASTE












But one thing about me ,

I never gave up




 


DR. Tik Fu Gee

came to my rescue again





He Suggested

That I’m just going to get myself trouble again

Since I'm starting to g back to old habit

I was so unhappy

I was really, really sad

If I went back to the same diet technique

Something worst would happen

And this time there might be no one saving me





He introduced VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastric surgery)

A surgery where I could take a break from diet and exercise

And have fun in my life

A SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM

& He was Right.

To me honestly he was my hero.





On 28 November 2016

I did the Vertical Sleeve Gastric surgery

It was performed by Dr.Tik Fu gee


So total medical cost for year 2016

Prince-court (Ruptured Appendix): RM 40 000

Total cost for 2016: RM 88 000.



 

WITHOUT MY FAMILY SUPPORT

Boy I have so much to pay back for my father



He is indeed MY support and Pillar of all of this

My Father is my Superhero,

my everything,

my angel

I do feel very guilty

And not forgetting all of us are still studying in college

Its just so upsetting

I will never forget his love and help for me

Really am gratitude to them

I’m very lucky to have them in my live

I love them



I'm writing this in year 2019


In My Mind, I Thought Being Slim Is Making Them Proud. AT THAT TIME, I DON’T KNOW WHY, I WAS just so determined, so selfish, I was bullied allot and I just wanted to fit in.



 



I was 98 Kg in Dec 2016




After Surgery I took the whole December 2016 juice fast and was on liquid diet.

Its not that I never learned my lesson


Its just sometimes you just got to do what your heart tells you


And that time, my heart and mind told me one thing


Juice fast or liquid diet

To reboot myself



and whatever I was facing from

I needed that.


Only having

orange juice,

to watermelon juice,

to coconut juice,

to lychee,

to apple juice

to Milkshakes



& noodle Soups,

asam laksa,

curry laksa,

tomyam,

PRAWN MEE.

chicken soup,

Bah Ku The or just anything, , as my only meal for a month.






.....

I lost 6 kgs, bY END OF 2016.


  • Year 2016: 84kg – 93kg



 


YEAR 2017:


I DID NOT QUITE


After a month of liquid diet


On 1st January 2017, I reached 93Kg


And started my weight loss journey again.





 

From

January 2017 – December 2017

93 Kg – 73 KG.

Total loss OF THE YEAR: 20 KG



Finally I reached my healthy weight goal,

which was 73 kg that year in June.


Really a happy lady.



According to the rule of thumb :


You have to take off 100 of your height (CM) to get the start of your healthy weight (KG).


Height (CM) – 100: WEIGHT (KG): Healthy Weight







I am 173 cm by height


So, 173 – 100 : 73 kg. ( is the start of my healthy weight)


Anything more than 73 kg is considered over weight for my height


And I reached my Target of the year




  1. To be honest I quit gym and diet

  2. I went back to my parents’ house

  3. I took a year break to recover and back to writing Fictions

  4. At home my parents have five dogs, so playing and taking them walking Was my new hobby and exercise routine,

  5. But I was very specific with 1200 callories diet.

  6. I was not lazy

  7. I stick with the regiment


Additionally



My father bought us three New dogs,

- Alaska ( Husky Malamute hybrid)

- Forest (German shepherd)

- Aussie/ Australia (Border collie)


Along with my older dogs

- Pheobe ( Maltese)

- Snow White ( Shih Tzu)




I took care of this five dogs, playing with them,

being my only exercise for the day

MOST IMPORTANTLY In 2017, I followed this diet.


I CALL IT My CHARMING DIET.




I discover the Military Diet

And decided to use this diet 6 days in a week

Monday to Saturday

And Sundays are my cheat day I can eat whatever I want

Each day consist exactly 1200 calories

And I love this diet

Especially the vanilla ice-cream in the end

I also came up with my own substitute replacing the initial list of the military diet



I stopped being a raw vegan nor a vegetarian.

However I do limit on my meat intake,

not for diet purposes but for the love of animals.


I start eating right with a basic calorie diet.

My basic calories at that time was 1200 calories away,

And I ate all the right stuff.

I USE this diet for a year , with no additional cheat days, and I SAW MY DESIRED RESULT, NO CHEAT DAYS ALLOWED THOUGH.

IN 2017, I CAN EAT WHATEVER I WANT ON MY SUNDAYS





Day 7 Sunday : Cheat day eat anything you want and like. From 12 to 6pm only. after that or before that you cannot take.

For every food that I Take, there is a reason WHY

green beans/ green pease :Studies in humans, cats and dogs have all substantiated positive weight loss results when adding fiber to calorie restricted programs. Canned green beans provide extra fiber, are generally a hit with dogs, and only contain about 50 calories per can. FIBER BOOSTER 
red apple / green apple :Eating apple regularly can help in fighting many diseases and it can also help in reducing the fat from your belly. Apple helps your stomach to feel full because it contains potassium and many vitamins. So, eat an apple in breakfast to get the desired tummy size.  IMMUNITY BOOSTER 

Banana : Bananas Are Filling, But Not as Much as Some Other Fruits. Filling up on high-fiber, low-calorie snacks can help with weight loss and weight maintenance. Tofu is also a great source of calcium and iron (especially important for women). ... Aside from the nutritional benefits, tofu can be a major boost to your weight-lossplan. A half-cup of tofu contains only 94 calories—the same amount of ground beef contains 331 calories; cheese, 320 calories.


PROTEIN BOOSTER

weigh cream crackers ( the low calorie one) : The aforementioned GG crackers are marketed as an "appetite-control" food, and you're encouraged to eat them in lieu of bread or other carbs, because they contain fewer calories. ... And if Instagram is to be believed, many people do eat these crackers for several meals a day in order to lose weight. HEALTHY CARBS 
hot dogs / Vegi hot dogs : The average hot dog (without the bun) is about 150 calories. If you’re watching your calories or portions like I was at the time, then this isn’t very conducive to your new dietary habits, especially if you have the voracious appetite that I do. PORTIONED FOOD 
carrots :“People don't gain weight on carrots and blueberries; it would be almost impossible to eat enough of them,” Somers says. “We fill up on the volume of food.” But fear not, you are not destined to a steady diet of carrot sticks and bird food. In fact, a wide assortment of the right “thin” foods can help youlose weight. VITAMIN BOOSTER 
broccoli / corliflower :Not only low in calories, broccoli or coliflower is also packed with essential nutrients and fibre, which gives you a feeling of fullness. cheddar cheese / olive oil spread ( Vegan butter): Researchers from the Curtin University of Technology in Perth asked 40 volunteers to start a calorie-reduced diet and a selection to eat more cheese, yoghurt and low fat milk. They found that those who consumed between three to five servings of dairy product a day lost the most weight. HEALTHY FAT 
tuna / Avocado :


Tuna is popular among bodybuilders and fitness models who are on a cut because it's a great way to keep protein high, with total calories and fat low. If you're trying to emphasize protein intake, then make sure to choose tuna canned in water, not oil. Some beans and legumes can be beneficial for weight loss.


Avocados contain healthy fats which help promote weight loss along with other amazing health benefits. 


PROTEIN / HEALTHY FAT 

yogurt/ cottage cheese/ strawberry agar :


It provides all the benefits of dairy without the added fat or calories, and actually contains more calcium and protein per serving than other dairy product because of the way it is made. Yogurtspecifically has been studied as a calcium-rich food that helps burn fat and promotes weight loss.


The main benefit of the cottage cheese diet is fastweight loss. Any diet that greatly restricts calories usually results in weight loss. But you may losemostly water weight and not fat. ... The cottage cheese diet is convenient.

The Result after maintaining this diet and the best part is I did not even step in a gym nor another juice fasting or liquid dieting or any type of diet, instead, I started to do other stuffs than being stuck in gym, from Traveling to KRABI TO SYDNEY


WITH 1200 Calories a day, MAINTAINING THE year 2017 - DIET ABOVE IS MY KEY OF MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY

My weight loss journey was the biggest struggle I've been through, and I'm happy to say I've achieved it.


From Jan 2018 (73 kg ) – Dec 2018 ( 59kg)

I lost 14kg in 2018

My target was to hit 53kg – 55kg by end of year 2020

And I’m doing it slowly and the right way too


I quite gym,

I quite Diet,

I quit fasting

and I also quit on skin removal surgeries to fix myself


The only exercise I do is walking and shopping


I rather live with the extra skin than have my skin remove by surgery


I don’t plan to pay anything extra to fix myself

Instead I go traveling allot

I Spend My 2018 Doing My Double Masters In Law (LL.M) And Journalism At UNSW, Sydney.

Since I already reached my healthy weight in 2017, 73 kg.


I wanted a different challenge in life

Instead of focusing too much in gym


I spend time with my family More, I always been alone, because of weight loss, I ignore to come back home, in order to focus on gym or diet and to ignore slipping up on them, 2014, 2015 and 2016, I was never home, I regret not watching my sister growing up, I regret not spending with my parents that now I realize how old they got, I regret missing all those family activities since most of my cousins now are married with their own family, in that three years


I finally opened my eyes , seeing how selfish I was , though I had my reasons, but yet again I admit I was selfish.


than again its all about how serious you take your challenge and want it


I wanted badly to loose weight

and I did it

yes in a wrong way at first

but I came back learning how to do it right as well


this is my story :) from year 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 to 2018 :D

and I'm sorry there are very less pictures of me in this blog

however I chose to write short and sharp and concentrated on the diet and timeline the use

this is my method, and no I'm not advising you guys to follow it

yet I'm just showing you how I did it.
